Cablebel launches new website: “Safety during Fire”
2010-05-07 - Brussels – Another important addition has been made to the armory of promotional tools used by Cablebel to raise awareness of the use of low fire-hazard cables: the new www.safety-during-fire.be website.
The site is derived from the Europacable website, founded by the leading organization Europacable. Aimed at electrical industry professionals, European and National Authorities and end-users, the site provides information about how buildings can be made safer in the case of fire breaking out. In the coming weeks, the website will show informative content specifically for the Belgian market, including scientific evidence and answers to questions about cables exposed to fire. It will also provide information on how the European Construction Product Directive applies to cables.
In terms of loss of human life, fires are costly. Loss of life can be limited by the installation of low fire-hazard cables. In many countries, building regulations do not address the fire properties of cables. Therefore, it is important that there is a website containing a wide range of information on the subject to support all players in the decision chain.
In the news section, users of the site will find information about applications using low-fire hazard cables; updates to fire regulations as well as articles about incidents involving fires in buildings. The FAQ area gives answers to questions on smoke and acidity, as well as on the Construction Products Directive. White papers by prominent fire experts can be found in the scientific library and can be downloaded free of charge. The scientific topics range from the hazards of combustable products, acidity, FTIR techniques and escape simulations of fires generated by cables. An area for applications and case studies shows buildings that use low fire-hazard cables.
The site will be kept constantly up to date by a team of industry experts. Latest news about relevant applications and new standards and regulations will be posted on www.safety-during-fire.be, in a timely manner.
